ARCC Internship Program
The Abortion Rights
Coalition of Canada (ARCC) is offering an exciting internship
opportunity for the first time for summer 2012. ARCC is
seeking one full-time intern to assist with ARCC’s work in
furthering abortion rights and services for women in Canada.
Specifically, the intern will be assisting with a research
project aiming to lay the legal groundwork for the regulation
of Crisis Pregnancy Centres (CPCs), to ensure ethical and
professional standards. Our goal with this project is to
advance toward the regulation of these centres in Canada,
starting with a sign bylaw at a municipal level in the City of
Vancouver.
The internship will last 3-4 months, and will be supervised by
the Executive Director as well as lawyers working with the
organization. The interns will assist in research, drafting
legislation, and other policy work. There may be an
opportunity to be involved with other legal research projects
as well.
The internship is unpaid and most of the work will be done
independently as ARCC does not have a public office for
security reasons.
Qualifications: These
internships are open to law students, law graduates, and
graduate students with expertise in criminal law, social
justice law and constitutional law. Applicants should be
well-organized, self-motivated and reliable, and pro-choice,
with a strong interest in human rights. The
intern can be located anywhere in Canada.
To apply for the
position, please send your letter of interest, along with CV
and two references, to Joyce Arthur at jharthur [at]
shaw.ca. We will be accepting applications for the summer
2012 internship until March 1, 2012.
