Do you have friends or family who are anti-choice or misinformed about abortion? Would you like to know the best way to talk to your young kids about abortion? Or how to share age-appropriate sex ed with your teenagers if they’re not learning it in school? If so, this workshop is for you!
Speakers

Carly Kol (she/her) is a full-spectrum doula from New York. Since 2015, Carly has supported thousands of individuals during their procedural abortions and medication abortions. She has partnered with dozens of organizations and community care networks to train and organize abortion companions all over the word. Carly is the author of two children’s books about abortion care, What’s an Abortion Anyway? (Self-published, 2021) and Let’s Talk About Abortion (Interlink Press, 2025). She currently lives in Los Angeles, California with her partner and their pit bull, Mickey.

Carlie McPhee (she/they) has been working in the Sexual & Reproductive Health field as a specialized comprehensive sexual health educator for over a decade across western Canada in school, community, post-secondary and health care settings. Her work with various government health authorities in BC & Alberta, expert sexuality and reproductive justice researchers, and countless hours in classrooms have shaped her outstanding development & delivery of original comprehensive sexual health education that reaches 1000’s of youth per school year. Carlie has a Bachelor of Kinesiology in Leadership in Pedagogy and Coaching from the University of Calgary and a Graduate Certificate in Sexual Health from the University of Alberta.

A.J. Lowik (they/them) is the President of ARCC, and Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Lethbridge. A.J. will serve as moderator for the panel, including moderating a breakout session on how to talk about abortion to your family and friends.
Workshop Admission
There is a small fee to register.
If you’re not an ARCC member, we invite you to support ARCC’s work by joining us today for just $35 a year, and you’ll immediately become eligible for the member admission rate on workshops for the next year.
Fees and donations will be split equally between the speaker and ARCC to support our advocacy. Thank you!
