National Billboard Campaign Promotes Reproductive Freedom

With the help of donors, ARCC has launched an ad campaign to support reproductive rights

VANCOUVER – The Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC) is proud to announce its first-ever outdoor advertising campaign in Canada.

Starting in BC, a mobile billboard campaign ran from March 30 to April 5. A large truck with digital ads travelled around Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Langley, and Abbotsford.

In Moncton, New Brunswick, a highway billboard is up from Mar 30 to Apr 26, with bilingual billboards coming to Dieppe NB from Apr 13 to May 10.

The ads proclaim that “Abortion is Healthcare” to remind Canadians that abortion is a normal part of healthcare and should not be controversial. 

The campaign has three objectives:

  1. Support Canadians’ reproductive autonomy
  2. Reduce abortion stigma
  3. Counter inflammatory messaging and misleading ads from anti-choice groups

“We are so grateful for the support of our donors, which has made the mobile campaign and billboards possible,” said Joyce Arthur, Executive Director of ARCC.

ARCC is calling on donors to help continue funding the campaign through its Chuffed.org page, with the goals of raising at least $10,000 and placing more ads in other parts of the country. An anonymous donor pledged $5,000 to match contributions dollar for dollar, doubling the impact and helping to reach more Canadians. 100% of funds raised go directly toward the advertisements.

Why this matters

Across Canada, misinformation about abortion is escalating. Anti-choice groups are spreading deceptive videos, misleading narratives, and inflammatory messages that seek  to divide communities and undermine reproductive rights.

“Anti-abortion messaging is designed to create fear and stigma, and it’s everywhere — from flyers delivered to homes, to graphic images on campuses and outside clinics, to ads on buses, to billboards in farmers’ fields,” said ARCC spokesperson Deanna Ronson. “ARCC’s campaign pushes back with something simple and true: abortion is healthcare, and people deserve access without stigma.”

ARCC’s ongoing commitment is to ensure that accurate information, compassion, and respect for bodily autonomy reach communities nationwide. “For over 20 years, ARCC has worked to safeguard abortion rights and expand access to quality reproductive health care across Canada. This ad campaign is necessary to spread the word that abortion is healthcare,” said Ronson.

About the ads

ARCC’s mobile billboard campaign in BC was carried out by Grow More Technology Group, a national advertising company focused on digital out-of-home and outdoor media. The New Brunswick billboards are being hosted by Billboard Hub, which operates mostly in the Atlantic provinces and Ontario.

“We really appreciate that these ad companies were willing to host abortion rights ads, as most other companies declined or didn’t even respond to our inquiries,” said Arthur.
